We’re amidst a challenging time right now. Time is the keyword, here. We have the time to take action. We can use this time to redefine ourselves, reinforce what we’re doing, and rethink ways of doing business.

We can be innovative, productive, and resourceful in these times, too. We can be working on our businesses if we’re not working in our businesses. This is the time.

As a small business owner, I’m also evaluating my business and looking at where I can help others. So, how can I help you?

I’ll provide a few tips for rethinking your content:

Review your website. Many business owners create a simple website when they first launch their business. Sometimes, your bare bones website has stayed that way. Do you need to add new content?

Also, when you first started, you likely had an idea in mind about your mission and values—is your web content still aligned? Does your content reflect your current offerings?

Start at home. Is your home page filled with industry jargon or can anyone understand exactly what you do and why you do it? Can your audience immediately see the value in what you provide?

Evaluate your “About Us” page. Is it engaging, or does it read like a resume or a LinkedIn profile? Is there a better story you can tell about why you’re doing what you’re doing?

Do you provide enough information about each key player, so your audience can see why they’re passionate about their work?

Create blogs or vlogs. Share what you’re working on and how you can help other people. And, don’t be shy about talking about how others are benefitting from your business. If you receive a great testimonial, use a vlog or blog to share that information on your website and then use your social media feeds to link to that story.

Use this time to thoroughly evaluate your website, make revisions, and create new content. This isn’t the time to be idle. It’s the time to look at new ways of solving problems, sharing your story, and connecting with others.

We’re all going through this—and we’re all in it together. We’re going to get through this and we’re going to emerge stronger and more resourceful as a result. In the meantime, practice kindness and stay connected.

Reach out. I’m always available to talk about content, ideas, and collaborations.

Take care and be healthy and safe.
